Our Team
Along with 50 robots, Q-Bot employs 50 humans at a headquarters in London and offices in Newcastle and Newport. The highly-experienced multidisciplinary engineering and research team has a unique blend of robotics, digital and building experience.
Q-Bot was founded in 2012 by Tom Lipinski and Professor Peter Childs, whose entrepreneurial track record includes the commercialisation of innovative technologies as well as previous successful exits.

Chief Executive Officer
John become CEO at Q-Bot in late 2022, and he has extensive experience from executive finance and business roles in the insurance and technology sectors. His leadership has spurred significant revenue growth, operational improvements, and new partnerships for Q-Bot's 'robot as a service' offering. As a pivotal figure in securing funding, John now drives the company's commercial expansion
Chief Technology Officer
John has operated across the sustainability & renewables technology sector within scale-ups and more established businesses. Recent experience has been with CMR Surgical, a British medical device company producing a robot-assisted surgery system and Inmarsat, a British satellite telecommunications company, offering global mobile services. John has led teams large and small and across different countries. He has delivered technology led, scale and sustainable service businesses though innovation via transformation projects.
Chairperson, Co-Founder
Co-Director of the Energy Futures Lab, and founding Head of the Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College London. Peter is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Chairperson at both Q-Bot and BladeBUG.
Investor Director
CEO of NetScientific PLC, Ilian has a broad experience in supporting high growth technology companies and working with corporate, family office and institutional investors. Investment Director since 2015, he has led several investment rounds into Q-Bot.

David has vast amounts of experience in operations, team management, retrofit logistics, data management, materials spraying, and robot operation & maintenance.
Head of Commercial
Leigh has many years of expertise in architecture, energy efficiency, affordable housing, business growth, operational efficiency, and sustainable solutions.
Head of Robotics
Dayna has electronics and computer systems engineering, mechatronics, and robotics expertise as well as significant experience in robotics development, production, and fleet operation.
Team Members
Mechanical Engineer – Tom likes working on projects which improve people’s quality of life and enjoys looking forward to see how the processes delivering those solutions can be improved. He dislikes thoughtless design.
Head of Product – Maddy loves seeing the impact of our work, improving lives and reducing carbon emissions. She dislikes wasted time and energy.
Senior Software Engineer – Oliver enjoys learning new technologies and solving interesting problems. He dislikes incomplete documentation and scope creep.
Robot Manager – Matt likes clean, simple, elegant design and attention to detail. He believes flip-flops and marmite are the work of the devil.
