Q-Bot is a high tech, high growth, international start-up, developing robotics and intelligent systems that are revolutionising the built environment whilst creating a positive social impact. We are looking for a Robotics Technician to join the Robot-Operations team in Newcastle to service and maintain the current fleet of robots, as well as heading to site to support the Operations teams carry out installs and some robotic production work. This position offers a great deal of variety, lots of hands-on experience as well as the opportunity to work with customers.

This role would suit a passionate individual who is enthusiastic to learn everything there is to know about Q-Bot’s robots and services. You should be confident, self-motivated, a keen team-player, enjoy problem solving and stepping up to a challenge. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • service and maintain the company’s robots;

  • support the install team to deliver installs on site;

  • provide robot training and feedback suggested improvements; and,

  • help out in the production of robots and other equipment.


Your goal will be to ensure that the robots are robust, reliable and ready for action at all times, whilst making sure that customers enjoy a friendly and committed service.


Duties of the job:

  • Assist in the service, maintenance and repair of the company’s robots.

  • Replace robot’s parts that have worn over time before they fail.

  • Assembly and testing of robot modules, including electrical wiring and mechanical assembly.

  • Debugging, testing and commissioning of the software systems.

  • Train and support customers on-site and remotely whenever necessary.

  • Where required to install under-floor insulation across a variety of properties.

  • Helping to run experiments and demonstrations both in the field and the lab.

  • Feedback design improvements to the product development team.


Essential requirements:

  • Relevant work experience and / or qualifications in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Electronic, Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing.

  • A demonstratable knowledge and passion for solving technical challenges.

  • Able to work effectively both as part of a team and individually.

  • Ability to manage time, resources, and work to deadlines.

  • Drive and determination to get the job done.

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction.


Desirable skills:

  • Practical experience working in the built environment and construction industry.

  • Experience in debugging electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to interpret electrical and/or mechanical technical drawings.

  • Knowledge of software development, testing and control systems would be advantageous.
