Q-Bot celebrates International Women's Day

8 March 2021

Happy International Women's Day 2021 !

Q-Bot is proud to have built a diverse team with 26% of women working at the company, and 33% of them have a management role. This is much higher than the average for the UK engineering and construction industry, which represents 8% of women in engineering [1] and 11% in the construction industry [2].

Women in the Q-Bot ecosystem were more than happy to testify about their experience, and inspire and empower more women into the construction industry.

Charlotte Famy - Managing Director at Saint Gobain

"Women represent less than 13% of professional workers in the construction industry and the number is even lower on the front line of the job site. However, the good news is that there is a shift in mindset in the construction industry as it moves towards greater diversity.

I’ve been working at Saint Gobain for the past 17 years and there has never been a dull moment. We are facing such challenges in construction today that I am convinced that we will meet them only with diverse teams.  This is why I have always been committed to create the right conditions to make business more inclusive.

Along this exciting journey, I have discovered new technologies for the built environment, allowing us to make work easier onsite and make it more digitalized. Q-Bot is part of these new companies that bring innovation in construction. I now sit on the Board and it is a fascinating adventure to see it growing while keeping diversity on the top of its priorities.

I’m looking forward to seeing more women in the construction industry!"

Dayna Kivell - Head of Robots at Q-Bot

"Building, creating and inventing has always been my passion from a very early age, pulling things apart, learning how they work and putting them back together (in some cases with a few bits missing, sorry Mum). I was fortunate enough to study Electronics and Computer Systems Engineering which allowed me to turn my childhood passions into real world applications. Whilst at university I came across the famous quote ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life’ and here at Q-Bot I have yet to work a full day."
